About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the organization responsible for evolving how Leidos Energy creates and delivers differentiated value through technology
  • Identify problems and opportunities where technology can materially improve outcomes
  • Prioritize opportunities based on value, feasibility, risk, implementation effort, and scalability
  • Rapidly determine whether opportunities should be scaled, redirected, or stopped
  • Lead rapid development, experimentation, prototyping, and testing
  • Determine whether to build, buy, configure, integrate, partner, or reuse capabilities
  • Incorporate users and operational realities throughout development
  • Own the path from identified opportunity through operational deployment
  • Address technical, security, workflow, adoption, and organizational requirements for successful use
  • Partner with Operations & Sustainment to transition capabilities into ongoing operation and support
  • Establish a repeatable approach for moving from problem to evidence to deployed capability
  • Manage the organization, portfolio, resources, investments, and partnerships
  • Provide Energy CTO and Business Area leadership with insight into opportunities, progress, risk, investment, and realized value
  • Build an effective, engaged team and develop people and leaders across the combined Energy organization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related technical discipline and 12+ years of relevant professional experience; equivalent combination of education and experience considered
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical organizations and multidisciplinary teams, including developing technical leaders
  • Demonstrated record of taking multiple technology capabilities, improvements, or technology-enabled changes from concept or experimentation through successful operational deployment
  • Demonstrated ability to identify high-value problems, evaluate alternative approaches, and use evidence to scale, redirect, or stop technology investments
  • Ability to communicate technology choices, evidence, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to senior business and technical leaders and lead effectively across organizational boundaries
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant technical or business discipline
  • Preferred: Deep understanding of energy, utility, engineering, or another engineering-intensive business
  • Preferred: Experience rapidly developing and scaling technology-enabled improvements within a complex or highly governed organization
  • Preferred: Experience operating successfully in a large, matrixed organization
