About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and oversee a team within the Power Distribution Engineering organization.
  • Lead distribution engineers and designers in developing construction work packages for electric distribution systems.
  • Provide technical oversight, direction, support, and QA/QC for engineering projects.
  • Use GIS, CAD tools, WMS, and client systems to develop work packages meeting client and construction standards.
  • Oversee bills of materials, cost estimating, forestry trimming requests, permitting, Right-of-Way acquisition, easements, and CIAC calculations.
  • Serve as client point of contact and liaison on project-related issues.
  • Collaborate with design managers on schedule adherence and team quality control.
  • Oversee capital, reliability, and customer project work, including reconductors, voltage conversions, load swaps, circuit rebuilds, DOT relocations, DG integrations, and new customer development feeds.
  • Facilitate client and team collaboration and communication; manage resource loading based on client demands.
  • Track project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Oversee design-team QA/QC.
  • Monitor team performance metrics.
  • Track and report financial metrics.
  • Participate in hiring efforts and professional development activities for designers and engineers.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) from an ABET-accredited institution; Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 8+ years of prior relevant experience OR 6+ years of relevant experience with master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering personnel.
  • Proficient knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and comprehension of client construction standards.
  • Successful project management experience (initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control, closeout).
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and provide leadership to other team members.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Experience with PoleForeman, AUD, GE Smallworld, Maximo, STORMS, EAM, or similar products is preferred.
  • Experience with complex distribution design projects is preferred.
  • Experience developing civil and electrical packages for complex cable/conduit in dense urban environments is preferred.
  • PMP certification and/or PE license is preferred.
