About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as Engineer of Record for microgrid electrical designs, owning system-level integration across PV, BESS, generation, and distribution assets
Develop detailed electrical design deliverables, including one-line/three-line diagrams, equipment specifications, protection and coordination studies, and interconnection designs
Integrate MV/LV distribution design with generation and storage assets while ensuring compliance with utility interconnection requirements and applicable codes/standards
Coordinate protection scheme design and controls/SCADA interface requirements across vendors and disciplines
Lead technical review of EPC and OEM deliverables for compliance with client standards and project performance requirements
Interface with clients, EPCs, and equipment vendors to resolve design issues and ensure constructability
Support permitting, interconnection applications, and utility coordination
Participate in or lead multidisciplinary design reviews for microgrid and DER projects

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program, with a focus on power systems
4–8 years of experience in detailed electrical design and system integration for microgrid, distribution, generation, or storage projects
Demonstrated experience designing and integrating multiple DER asset types (PV, BESS, generators) into a single electrical system
Experience with MV/LV distribution system design, protection coordination, and interconnection design
Working knowledge of controls/SCADA interface requirements as they relate to electrical system design
PE license or ability to obtain PE licensure preferred
Experience with VRFB, lithium-ion, or other BESS technologies at the electrical design level preferred
Familiarity with reciprocating engine/turbine generator integration preferred
Prior EOR role on one or more completed microgrid or DER projects preferred
Experience with utility interconnection standards and processes preferred
