About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide face-to-face counseling to military Service Members and their families, including individual, couples, family, and children’s counseling
- Provide counseling, consultation, outreach, coaching, guidance, and support to eligible Service Members, family members, children, youth, parents, staff, and faculty
- Recommend appropriate referrals and handoffs to military and community resources based on differential clinical skills and client needs
- Offer presentations addressing social skills development and social emotional learning
- Build rapport by attending installation and community events
- Help families and children address military-community challenges, transitions, recurring moves, separations, deployments, and reunification
- Observe, participate, and engage in activities with children and youth
- Model behavior management techniques for staff and parents
- Work across military installations, community service buildings, military units, schools, child development centers, camps, and programs
- Perform duties in indoor and outdoor locations as directed by the Department of War
Requirements
What you’ll need- A master’s degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD)
- Licensure to practice at the independent practice level (LCSW, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist) in a state or territory of the United States
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be able to pass a basic background check for employment
- Must be able to pass a National /Child National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance, commonly called a Public Trust clearance
- SOCOM positions require at least a Secret (T3) clearance
- Flexible, ready-to-serve counselors willing to jump in at a moment’s notice
- Ability to support adults or minors in varied assignments and environments
