About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide face-to-face counseling to military Service Members and their families, including individual, couples, family, and children’s counseling
- Provide counseling, consultation, and outreach to eligible Service Members, adult family members, children, youth, parents, staff, and faculty
- Provide preventative, solution-focused counseling addressing military-community challenges
- Recommend appropriate referrals and handoffs to military and community resources
- Offer presentations addressing social skills development and social-emotional learning
- Build rapport with Service Members, spouses, and children by attending installation and community events
- Support military units, families, schools, Child Development Centers, camps, and other programs
- Observe and engage with children and youth; coach, guide, and support staff and parents
- Model behavior-management techniques for staff and parents
- Enhance operational readiness and individual and family resiliency
Requirements
What you’ll need- A master’s degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD)
- Licensure to practice at the independent practice level (LCSW, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist) in a state or territory of the United States
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be able to pass a basic background check for employment and a National /Child National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance, commonly called a Public Trust clearance
- Must have an active passport
- Must be able to obtain an international driver's license
- Flexible, ready-to-serve counselors willing to jump in at a moment’s notice
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor locations, including uneven grassy, gravel, and/or dirt areas, stairs, weather exposure, and sitting on the floor with children for up to 2 hours
