About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop models of multi-domain systems of systems and software in mission-level simulations using AFSIM
  • Create advanced models of space, air, maritime, and ground systems and behaviors
  • Conduct model evaluation and validation
  • Apply Object-Oriented Programming techniques to maximize modeling and simulation environment scalability and extensibility
  • Analyze simulation results to communicate system and software effectiveness in real-world contexts
  • Collaborate with SMEs, software engineers, and analysts across the Defense Sector and Leidos
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive peer feedback
  • Document model development processes, results, and best practices
  • Stay updated on advancements in AFSIM capabilities
  • Create technical documentation and presentations for stakeholders
  • Influence solutions affecting strategic project and program goals and business results
  • Interact with technical resources across vendors fulfilling customer requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related field and 8+ years of prior relevant experience, or Master's degree in the above areas and 6+ years of experience
  • 4+ years of experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis, preferably using AFSIM
  • Proficiency in Python or MATLAB
  • Deep understanding of military operations at the mission and/or campaign level, informed by experience working on DoD programs
  • Expertise in modeling military systems and behaviors across multiple domains
  • Familiarity with Agile DevSecOps practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with customers and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new technologies and methodologies
  • US citizenship with a Top Secret clearance, SCI eligible
  • Must reside within commuting distance of Arlington, Virginia; Reston, Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; Beavercreek, Ohio; or San Diego, California
  • Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field
  • Preferred: Experience with C, C++, R, Java, Object-Oriented Programming, space-based sensing, communications, space domain awareness, combat scenarios, tool integration, Scrum, JIRA, and Confluence
