About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare relay settings from 4.16kV through 500kV, including relay set points, logic diagrams, configuration files, and documentation
- Collaborate with protection engineers and perform quality reviews on relay setting packages
- Support project planning activities through design and construction support
- Work directly with clients and staff in remote office locations
- Solve challenging substation engineering problems
- Lead and design utility substation and renewable energy projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited institution or BSEE and a PE License
- Minimum of four plus years of relevant experience in power system protection, developing relay settings, creating logic diagrams, or similar
- Capable of understanding Aspen OneLiner / Siemens CAPE for coordination and fault studies
- Experience preparing high-quality technical reports for protective relay settings and related studies
- Ability to develop relay settings for SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB, and other relays
- Deep understanding of transmission line protection schemes and substation protection schemes
- Experience interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams
- Strong engineering and interpersonal skills
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight to customer sites, in-office, or testing lab on an occasional basis
- Familiarity with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance standards is favorable
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) License is favorable
- Familiarity with Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista, or Schneider Electric MiCOM is favorable
