About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, test, review, debug, deploy, and maintain production-quality cloud-native microservices
  • Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions
  • Serve as Scrum Master for an Agile development team on an Agile Release Train
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, promote continuous improvement, and support predictable sprint and PI outcomes
  • Guide the team through PI planning, iteration planning, backlog refinement, system demos, and inspect-and-adapt workshops
  • Track and communicate team flow metrics, velocity, and PI objective progress
  • Coordinate with the Release Train Engineer, Product Owner, management, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Manage cross-team and cross-ART dependencies; escalate and resolve blockers
  • Leverage DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, AI-assisted development tools, and engineering best practices
  • Support integration with legacy air traffic systems and next-generation platform components
  • Support deployment, operational troubleshooting, and resolution of critical issues in development, test, and production environments
  • Uphold code quality, automated testing, and peer review practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster collaboration across engineering teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; a Doctorate may also qualify
  • Equivalent experience may be used in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and reviewing production Java applications
  • 2+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile team within a large-scale software development environment
  • Experience designing and implementing microservices and RESTful APIs, including JSON, XML, and XSD
  • Significant experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Security
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito
  • Experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Significant experience with Linux
  • Significant experience with Git or similar version control systems
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience with IntelliJ, Eclipse, VS Code, or similar development tools and IDEs
  • Understanding of sound software development principles and practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Successful completion of background investigations as required by the government customer
  • Preferred: knowledge or experience with AI-assisted coding tools, SAFe/CSM/PSM certifications, hybrid cloud architectures, data mesh patterns, cloud-native platform services, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Python, Ansible, YAML, Linux shell scripting, MongoDB/NoSQL, FedRAMP, FISMA, safety-critical or regulated software, air traffic systems, and large government programs
