About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as an Engineer on electric transmission line design projects for high-voltage and extra high-voltage overhead and underground systems
  • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other applicable standards in engineering and design
  • Work on voltage conversion, new capacity, and infrastructure replacement projects
  • Perform engineering analyses
  • Prepare bidding documents
  • Draft plans and specifications
  • Prepare material procurement and construction documents
  • Collaborate with a multi-person Leidos team
  • Interface with clients and project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
  • Potentially work in a client office and/or travel periodically

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years of prior relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems
  • Experience reviewing full transmission line designs, including PLS-CADD models, foundations, material, plan and profiles, and construction packages
  • Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements
  • Knowledge of construction specifications, material procurement process, project schedules, and construction work packages
  • Ability to develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
  • Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams
  • Leadership experience and experience supervising others required for Senior and SME Level
  • Willingness/ability to work in a client office if needed and/or travel periodically
  • Expertise in PLS-CADD and POLE
  • Experience with LPILE or FAD Tools
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • EIT, FE, or Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
  • GO95 experience preferred
  • Experience with PLS TOWER preferred
  • Experience with Bentley MicroStation preferred
  • Experience with Bentley ProjectWise preferred
  • Experience with Mathcad preferred
  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD preferred
  • Construction management and support experience preferred
