About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, modify, test, debug, and maintain software components supporting OJP digital products, integrations, APIs, automation, and internal platforms
- Improve existing applications and services through approved enhancements, defect corrections, refactoring, and technical-debt reduction
- Translate user stories, acceptance criteria, customer needs, and technical requirements into working software using Agile practices
- Create and maintain automated unit, integration, regression, API, and data tests
- Participate in Git-based source-control workflows, code reviews, pull requests, branching, merging, and configuration management
- Support CI/CD pipelines, build automation, security scanning, artifact or container workflows, and repeatable deployments
- Develop, consume, test, and maintain APIs and web services using REST, JSON, XML, SOAP, and related technologies
- Support API integrations with DIAMD, including Okta and SailPoint integrations using SCIM, OAuth 2.0, and SAML
- Support cloud-hosted and containerized environments, including deployment, monitoring, configuration, security, patching, and troubleshooting
- Investigate and resolve help desk tickets, software defects, test failures, and technical issues, escalating complex issues when appropriate
- Participate in defect triage, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, sprint reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and other Agile activities
- Create and maintain technical documentation, configuration information, user stories, standard operating procedures, test evidence, and implementation notes
- Collaborate with software engineers, architects, DevOps engineers, business analysts, product managers, and Government stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum two (2) years of progressively responsible software engineering or application development experience
- Experience developing, enhancing, debugging, testing, or maintaining enterprise or web-based applications across one or more application layers
- Experience with modern source control and software-development practices, including Git-based workflows, code reviews, and automated testing
- Experience working in Agile development environments and participating in iterative planning, backlog refinement, sprint execution, or Kanban delivery
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, authentication and authorization concepts, and common integration patterns
- Working knowledge of CI/CD, cloud platforms, containers, automation, or Infrastructure as Code
- Ability to troubleshoot software defects, test failures, integration issues, or deployment problems and document findings clearly
- Strong analytical, written communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills
- Must satisfy the citizenship, residency, background-investigation, and Public Trust requirements applicable to the task order
- Preferred: Experience supporting DOJ, OJP, or another Federal digital-service environment
- Preferred: Experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, AWS GovCloud, WSO2 API Manager, Git-based repositories, or Linux
- Preferred: Familiarity with SCIM, OAuth 2.0, SAML, Okta, SailPoint, or comparable technologies
- Preferred: Familiarity with security scanning, application monitoring, logging, observability, and vulnerability-remediation workflows
- Preferred: Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility, secure software development, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices
- Preferred: Relevant training or certifications in API management, Azure DevOps, GitHub, cloud, DevOps, software engineering, or related technologies
