About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build and implement a new enterprise VMware platform
  • Support compute, storage, networking and security integration requirements
  • Configure, administer and optimise VMware technologies including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX and vSAN
  • Work with infrastructure, network, security and application teams on platform integration and operational readiness
  • Support transition from project delivery to business-as-usual operations
  • Develop automation, documentation, monitoring and support processes for long-term platform sustainability
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and virtualisation issues
  • Contribute to ongoing platform improvements and service quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience administering and supporting enterprise VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX and vSAN
  • Capability in the design, implementation and support of virtualisation platforms, including compute, storage and networking components
  • Experience delivering infrastructure platforms from build and configuration through to operational support
  • Knowledge of platform operations, including monitoring, patching, backup, recovery and lifecycle management
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure and virtualisation issues
  • Ability to contribute to scalable, resilient and supportable platform designs aligned with operational requirements
  • Experience using automation and scripting tools such as PowerCLI, PowerShell or infrastructure-as-code approaches
  • Understanding of platform security, hardening standards, access controls and compliance requirements
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with network, security, cloud and application teams
  • Well-developed communication skills and ability to document technical solutions, operational procedures and support processes
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent practical experience
  • VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP or equivalent industry-recognised certifications are advantageous
  • Experience in government, defence or highly regulated environments is advantageous
  • Australian Citizenship required
  • Current NV1 Security Clearance required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an NV2 Security Clearance
