About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish and lead lemon.markets’ first dedicated AI function
- Identify, prioritise and deliver high-value AI use cases across Engineering, Finance, Operations, Compliance, Product, Sales, Partner Management and People
- Build a transparent, evidence-based portfolio of AI initiatives with business owners, baselines, success metrics and guardrails
- Develop practical AI workflows, guidance and capabilities for teams across the company
- Set standards for the governed AI platform, including model selection, evaluation, access controls, data protection, human approval points and fallback processes
- Partner with Risk Management, Compliance and Finance on regulatory expectations, risk boundaries, cost discipline and independent review
- Establish a measurement framework connecting efficiency gains to quality, risk and customer outcomes
- Lead and grow a team of AI Engineers and Data Scientists
- Report directly to the VP Engineering
Requirements
What you’ll need- Shipped applied AI or data solutions into production
- Managed use cases from discovery through implementation, measurement and improvement
- Driven AI adoption beyond Engineering, including Finance, Operations, Compliance, Sales or Product
- Experience in a regulated or highly controlled environment
- Understanding of governance, independent scrutiny and clear lines of responsibility
- Rigorous measurement, including baselines, quality guardrails and full impact assessment
- Understanding of AI economics, including inference costs, model routing, evaluation and assistant versus autonomous workflow distinctions
- Technically credible and hands-on enough to work effectively with engineers
- Working understanding of retrieval, access controls, evaluation and AI security risks
- Ownership and clear communication
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change
- Fluent in English
- Knowledge of German is a major advantage
- Willingness to work onsite at least 7 days per month in the Berlin office
- Based in Germany for the hybrid setup
