About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Directly monitor patient cardiac rhythm and oxygen saturation via remote monitoring system
  • Enter patient data and orders into the monitoring system and computerized Patient Care System
  • Assign transmitters for remote telemetry
  • Respond to alarms and identify changes in patient status
  • Report changes to the appropriate RN in a timely manner
  • Recognize cardiac rhythms and follow through with appropriate action
  • Upload rhythm strips into the correct patient record and document interpretation, heart rate, PQRS measurements, and O2 saturation
  • Troubleshoot the monitoring system
  • Assist with orientation of new monitor technicians and serve as a preceptor for other Monitor Tech I staff
  • Collaborate with monitor tech and clinical patient care staff
  • Participate in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Track equipment and use supplies efficiently
  • Prioritize workload according to patient and unit needs
  • Keep leaders informed of reports, activities, and stat results
  • Complete all other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • No prior experience required
  • Successful completion of an outside basic arrhythmia class or LMC's Basic Arrhythmia Course within the new hire probationary period
  • Candidates with Monitor Tech experience who successfully pass LMC's Basic Arrhythmia exam may be considered to have met the training requirement
  • No required certifications or licensure
  • Successful completion of the annual Basic Arrhythmia exam
  • Completion of yearly safety training and other mandatory classes
  • Completion of employee health workup
  • Ability to recognize cardiac rhythms and changes in patient status
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot the monitoring system
  • Ability to enter patient data and orders into computerized monitoring and Patient Care systems
  • Ability to work scheduled PM shifts from 7pm–7:30am
  • Must meet Human Resources policies and attendance requirements
