About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Shape the aims, scope, priorities, and formats for the Device journal
- Lead the journal’s development to remain impactful, topical, cohesive, and broadly appealing
- Manage the in-house editorial team
- Coordinate rigorous evaluation of submissions
- Ensure the quality and value of the journal as a forum for research, analysis, and ideas
- Draw on a global network of leading researchers to attract world-leading article submissions
- Travel extensively to engage with the global research community
- Build networks by attending conferences and visiting research institutes
- Develop and foster partnerships with Cell Press editorial teams
- Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, and Press teams
- Contribute to Cell Press’s overall publishing strategy
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven research expertise and a broad interest in research across the scope of Device
- Deep network of international researchers within the scope of the journal
- Proven ability to engage with and influence researchers
- Ability to think conceptually and critically about a wide range of scientific issues
- Proven organizational, project management, leadership, and teamwork skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Extensive editorial experience is valued
- Current academic assignment with interest in editorial/publishing challenges is encouraged
