About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and maintain premium features and services behind Life360 membership
  • Own feature quality from design through production, including new features, extensions, and reliability fixes
  • Build subscription tiering, pricing, packaging, and positioning surfaces, including paywalls, plan selection, upsell and upgrade flows, and one-time purchase flows
  • Own ads experience quality, including placement, mediation, performance, and stability
  • Partner with product, design, data science, and analytics to turn hypotheses into shippable work and results into decisions
  • Use AI tools such as Claude Code or equivalent to create specifications, generate code and tests, verify results, and perform reviews
  • Ship performant and reliable mobile experiences to 100M+ users, focusing on startup time, memory, battery, ANR, and crash-free rates
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, technical standards, and continuous improvement across mobile codebases
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
  • Mentor engineers and help evolve AI-native engineering practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of Android software engineering experience shipping production apps at consumer scale
  • Cross-platform experience, including 1+ year of AI-assisted iOS development
  • Experience with in-app billing and subscription platforms, including Google Play Billing and StoreKit
  • Strong proficiency with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, plus the Android View system
  • Deep familiarity with Android Studio, Kotlin Coroutines, and Flow
  • Experience with Android architecture patterns including MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, Jetpack/ViewModel/Navigation, and Hilt or Dagger
  • Comfort with feature flagging, A/B testing, exposure logging, holdouts, and guardrail metrics
  • Experience with mobile performance, memory, battery, ANR, and crash diagnostics
  • Experience with Android CI/CD and modular build systems, including Gradle, Fastlane, GitHub Actions, or Bitrise
  • Strong technical expertise in LLM-powered agentic systems, prompt engineering, context-window optimization, and MCP-based integrations
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to communicate tradeoffs clearly
  • Candidates must be based in the US or Canada
