About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide coordinated care to clients of all age groups
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate client care plans to restore or maintain patient well-being
  • Provide therapeutic techniques for speech, language, hearing, oral motor, swallowing, and cognitive disorders
  • Provide intervention for deficits and elicit responses
  • Perform clinical assessments and identify patient needs and client appropriateness
  • Document, prepare/revise, and complete Plans of Care, progress notes, phone orders, and other clinical records
  • Analyze client needs and administer appropriate physician-ordered care
  • Apply infection control and universal precautions in client care activities
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, team members, and healthcare professionals
  • Participate regularly in case conferences
  • Monitor assigned cases for compliance with third-party payer requirements
  • Complete documentation promptly to comply with company policy
  • Participate in in-service programs and maintain/improve competency
  • Meet mandatory continuing education requirements of the agency/licensing board
  • Provide in-person visits when patients are within a reasonable driving distance
  • Use virtual visits when in-person care is impractical
  • Travel locally and work a flexible schedule
  • No supervisory responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Two (2) years experience as an SLP in a clinical care setting
  • Home health experience preferred
  • SLP skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Proven decision-making skills
  • Must read, write and comprehend English
  • Master’s degree or doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university
  • Current driver’s license in good standing
  • Reliable transportation and auto liability insurance
  • Current State professional license in good standing to practice as an SLP in any/all applicable states
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Maintain a valid SLP license in the state where the therapist practices and a valid CPR certificate at all times
  • Ability to lift/transfer up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to meet deadlines and patient needs, make quick decisions, and allocate resources under stressful conditions
  • Ability to travel locally and work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to work in clients’ homes in various conditions
  • Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
  • Some exposure to unpleasant weather and PRN emergency call
