About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage monthly financial statement tracking across the portfolio, including monitoring receipts from external property management companies, maintaining status records, and escalating outstanding deliverables
- Coordinate communication of financial review comments and PMC responses, track open items, follow up with external partners, schedule meetings, and maintain documentation
- Track invoices from external CPA firms, reconcile charges to executed engagement letters, identify discrepancies, and coordinate timely payment
- Gather, organize, and validate reports and supporting documentation for lender and investor reporting
- Maintain centralized records of final property-level audits and other key financial documents
- Prepare personal property tax returns for internal review, file approved returns, and track submissions and deadlines
- Prepare real estate tax exemption applications and supporting documentation, submit approved applications, and track status through completion
- Compile and provide closing-binder documentation to external CPA firms for property-level audit and tax-return preparation
- Manage payment and tracking of insurance premiums across the portfolio
- Coordinate replacement reserve reimbursements, submit approved packages to lenders, monitor processing, and confirm receipt of funds
- Provide process coordination and administrative support for budget-to-actual reviews, annual budgets, stabilization testing, and recurring Portfolio Financial Operations activities
- Identify workflow improvements and help design, implement, and refine scalable processes using Excel, AI, automation, and other tools
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple recurring processes, deadlines, and follow-up items
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, complete work
- Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to identify and escalate issues to more senior team members
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort interacting directly with colleagues across Asset Management, Development, Corporate Accounting, and other teams, as well as PMCs, CPA firms, and external consultants
- A proactive, ownership-oriented approach and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others
- A continuous-improvement mindset
- Comfort leveraging AI and automation tools
- High professionalism and integrity when handling confidential information
- Passion for and alignment with the company’s double-bottom-line mission
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Business, or a related field
- 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, are encouraged to apply
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with or interest in affordable housing, real estate, finance, accounting, or investment management is a plus but not required
- Comfort learning new systems and technology
- Experience with property accounting, reporting, or workflow tools is a plus
