About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct initial and ongoing interviews with claimants
  • Obtain and review medical records
  • Make timely and ethical Short Term Disability claim determinations
  • Communicate with claimants, employers and medical professionals by phone and email to gather claim information
  • Collaborate with case managers, nurse case managers and consulting physicians
  • Review complex medical records to determine approval durations and future action plans
  • Complete accurate financial calculations according to company and state guidelines
  • Provide exceptional customer service and proactively identify customer needs and opportunities
  • Complete thorough training to develop skills for the role

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in claims, leaves or customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Experience with disability and/or absence management preferred
  • Strong mathematical skills for payment calculations preferred
  • Must reside outside of a commutable distance to an office location for the remote arrangement
