About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver high-quality tax services as a Senior Tax Associate or Tax Supervisor
  • Spend ideally 70%-80% of time working on Sec. 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) compliance projects, with remaining time on traditional work
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax documents
  • Prepare and review tax documents prepared by staff and offshore preparers, depending on role
  • Apply partnership taxation knowledge to tax engagements
  • Conduct research on new or complex tax issues and prepare supporting memorandums
  • Communicate with client personnel regarding deadlines, engagement status, requests for information, and tax compliance matters
  • Guide, train, and develop junior staff and offshore preparers
  • Assist with annual tax training
  • Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networks, and professional organizations
  • For the Tax Supervisor role, oversee engagements, perform technical review, develop staff, and provide team leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least three (3) years of tax experience in public accounting
  • While not required, the ideal candidate will have solid LIHTC and traditional tax experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in traditional tax work, including high net worth individuals, trusts, corporations, etc.
  • Familiarity with the intricacies of IRC Sec. 42 LIHTC projects, including credit calculations and first year credit projects
  • Ability to review LIHTC projects
  • Comfortable communicating with LP investors and GPs
  • Solid experience working with large nonprofit developer returns (Form 990)
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related
  • Current CPA license preferred but not required
  • Master’s Degree in Taxation a BIG PLUS
  • Self-starter and successful in a fully remote setting
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting and tax practices
  • Highly motivated, exceptional organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple engagements and time constraints
