Key responsibilities & impact

Run US and international payroll end to end, from collecting inputs to final reconciliation
Own all associated payroll tax filings, domestic and international, and keep the company compliant and on time
Manage PEO and EOR relationships and understand where provider responsibility ends and internal responsibility begins
Reconcile payroll to the general ledger each cycle and support month-end close
Build and maintain the payroll calendar, processes, and documentation as payroll moves into Finance
Partner with People/Talent and accounting on new hires, changes, terminations, and month-end reconciliation
Support equity administration in Carta and equity reporting for the board
Serve as the go-to contact for internal payroll questions and external auditor requests

What you’ll need

Hands-on experience running both US and international payroll, including Canada and/or the EU
Experience managing payroll tax filings directly, not just handing them off to a provider
Experience with multi-state US payroll for a remote, distributed team
Strong experience working within PEO and/or EOR structures
Familiarity with startup-focused platforms such as Rippling, Deel, Remote, or similar
Comfort working independently as the subject-matter expert, juggling many moving pieces and flagging tax, legal, and compliance risk before it becomes a problem
CPP, FPC, or a similar payroll certification is nice to have
Experience moving payroll in-house, switching providers, or migrating an HRIS is nice to have
Experience with equity administration in Carta is nice to have
Experience at a fast-growing company with a distributed, international team is nice to have
