About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete the two-week Artificial Breeding technician training course
- Perform artificial inseminations to help dairy farmers get cows in-calf
- Work alongside an experienced AB technician during the potential 12-month apprenticeship
- Submit and pass four national unit standards administered by Primary ITO
- Record breeding information accurately
- Progress to working independently as a qualified LIC AB Technician after completing all programme requirements
- Support farmers in breeding better cows and contributing to genetic improvement in New Zealand's dairy sector
Requirements
What you’ll need- Right to work in New Zealand
- Affinity with animals
- Good communication skills
- Connection to or interest in the dairy sector, with a customer focus
- Basic computer literacy, including operating a smartphone and iPad
- Strong attention to detail for accurate recording of breeding information
- Valid driver's licence
- Minimum height of 160cm
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job
- Passing pre-employment background checks
- Successful completion of the two-week basic training course
- Successful completion of four national unit standards administered by Primary ITO during the apprenticeship
