About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete artificial breeding inseminations to help dairy farmers get cows in-calf
- Attend and pass the two-week AB technician training course
- If selected as an apprentice, work alongside an experienced AB technician for 12 months
- Submit and pass four national unit standards administered by Primary ITO
- Record breeding information accurately
- Progress to working independently as a qualified LIC AB Technician after completing the apprenticeship requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Right to work in New Zealand
- Affinity with animals
- Good communication skills
- Connection with or interest in the dairy sector, with a customer focus
- Basic computer literacy, including operating a smartphone and iPad
- Strong attention to detail for accurate recording of breeding information
- Valid driver's licence
- Minimum height of 160cm
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job
- Successful completion of pre-employment background checks
- Successful completion of the two-week training course
- Successful completion of four national unit standards administered by Primary ITO during the apprenticeship
