About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform artificial breeding inseminations to help dairy farmers get cows in-calf
  • Complete the two-week AB technician training course
  • Potentially work for one year alongside an experienced AB technician as an LIC apprentice
  • Complete four nationally recognised Primary ITO unit standards during the apprentice programme
  • Record breeding information accurately
  • Progress to working independently as a qualified LIC AB Technician after completing all training and apprenticeship requirements
  • Work in the Southland/Otago locations of Invercargill, Gore, Balclutha, Lumsden, Winton, or Clydevale

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • The right to work in New Zealand
  • An affinity with animals
  • Good communication skills
  • A connection or interest in the dairy sector, with a customer focus
  • Basic computer literacy, including operating a smartphone and iPad
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate recording of breeding information
  • A valid driver's licence
  • Minimum height of 160cm
  • Meet the physical requirements of the job
  • Pass pre-employment background checks
  • Complete and pass the two-week basic AB technician training course
  • If selected for the apprentice programme, submit and pass four national unit standards administered by Primary ITO
