About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and develop client managers across payment solutions, corporate card programs, and open account offerings
  • Set objectives, mentor performance, and build team capability
  • Optimise activity with the wider Client Management and Commercialisation team
  • Coordinate account planning, pipeline management, client engagement, proposition feedback, and service improvement
  • Embed consistent client management practices including account planning, collaborator mapping, service reviews, retention activity, forecasting, and growth tracking
  • Act as a senior merchant services specialist across acquiring, acceptance, merchant operating models, payment flows, scheme considerations, risk dynamics, and the payments ecosystem
  • Identify connected opportunities across Commercial Cards and Open Account solutions
  • Partner with Product, Sales, Coverage, and Go-to-Market teams on cross-product opportunities and income growth
  • Manage complex client discussions, issue resolution, relationship planning, and opportunity shaping
  • Translate client and market insight into priorities for engagement, commercial planning, proposition development, and service improvement
  • Own portfolio prioritisation, people performance, pipeline governance, renewal inputs, RFP support, negotiation preparation, and resolution of material client concerns
  • Build relationships across Risk, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and external ecosystem participants
  • Role model inclusive leadership, coaching, and stakeholder engagement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • In-depth knowledge of merchant services, including merchant acquiring, acceptance models, payment flows, scheme considerations, gateways, and operational and risk dynamics
  • Direct client management experience in merchant services, including managing client relationships, resolving client issues, and delivering commercial or service outcomes
  • Working knowledge of Commercial Cards, including corporate working capital, spend control, supplier payments, and client treasury objectives
  • Understanding of Open Account solutions, including supply chain finance and receivables purchase
  • Proven people leadership experience across multiple product areas
  • Strong commercial judgement supporting pricing, renewals, RFPs, client negotiations, retention activity, and income growth
  • Excellent collaborator management and influencing skills
  • Strong delivery attitude coordinating across Product, Sales, Coverage, Operations, Risk, Technology, and Legal
  • Clear communication style and ability to simplify complex transaction banking topics
  • Experience leading or coaching client management teams across multiple transaction banking product areas
  • Experience supporting cross-product growth strategies across merchant services, commercial cards, and trade or open account solutions
  • Exposure to competitive RFPs, tenders, or complex renewals involving payments, acquiring, cards, or working-capital propositions
  • Understanding of risk, conduct, and operational resilience considerations across payments and receivables-related solutions
  • Ability to translate market trends, client feedback, and product insight into commercialisation and client engagement priorities
