About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead solution architecture activities for the Bank network connecting data centres, hosting locations, offices, branches and external services
- Ensure network designs are resilient, secure and aligned to enterprise standards
- Define reusable connectivity patterns
- Guide migration approaches for major transformation activity
- Help teams make decisions on routing, domain name services, load balancing, network traffic flow control and application deployment
- Bring together architecture, delivery and engineering teams
- Connect strategic architecture decisions with network and security change design, assurance, deployment and operation
- Keep risk, compliance and operational readiness front of mind
- Help shape network architecture capability across the wider function
- Mentor and manage an architecture or engineering team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrable experience crafting network architectures across large-scale, regulated organisations
- Focus on resilience, security, availability and operational sustainability
- Broad knowledge of modern networking technologies across data centre, cloud, campus, office, branch, wide area, internet and partner connectivity domains
- Knowledge of software-defined networking, hybrid and multi-cloud networking, network automation, and contemporary connectivity and security technologies
- Experience with vendors such as Cisco
- Ability to design, govern and assure network control architectures, including traffic segmentation, access control, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, network detection and response, encryption, policy enforcement, observability and security control mapping
- Experience producing and assuring target state architectures, option assessments, high- and low-level designs, architecture decision records, standards, patterns and governance submissions
- Collaboration and communication skills across architecture, systems design, cyber defence, platform, delivery and service teams
- Track record balancing strategic direction with practical delivery
- Line management skills, including mentoring and management of an architecture or engineering team
