About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Finance Governance, Control Testing and Supplier Management teams within the Finance Chief Control Office
- Lead control improvement, risk reporting and supplier coordination across Group Finance
- Drive implementation and embedding of the Resetting Risk framework
- Translate Group requirements into Finance practices across risk assessment, governance, monitoring and reporting
- Shape Finance executive risk reporting with clear, concise and data-led insight into risk exposure, emerging risks and control effectiveness
- Lead control optimisation initiatives, simplifying and rationalising control environments and embedding critical control testing
- Review and challenge Finance Risk and Control Owners and help address weaknesses
- Strengthen governance and oversight of Finance-owned suppliers and non-traditional arrangements
- Build relationships across Finance, Risk and Chief Control Office teams and resolve cross-functional challenges
- Lead and develop a high-performing team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong experience of Non-Financial Risk, controls, audit or governance within Finance, financial services or another large, complex organisation
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and their practical application within a first-line environment
- Proven experience of leading control design, optimisation, rationalisation, automation, testing and monitoring
- Ability to translate complex risk and control information into clear, actionable executive insight and high-quality governance reporting
- Experience of supplier risk management or third-party governance, including policy compliance, performance monitoring and oversight of non-traditional arrangements
- Strong judgement and confidence to provide constructive challenge to senior Risk and Control Owners
- Track record of establishing effective relationships across organisational boundaries, including with senior Finance customers, Risk Specialists and other Chief Control Offices
- Proven people leadership experience, with ability to build capability, set clear expectations and develop an inclusive, high-performing team
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Relevant professional qualification in risk, audit or accountancy is desirable but not essential where equivalent experience can be proven
