About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in solution architecture for the Bank network
  • Connect data centres, hosting locations, offices, branches and external services
  • Ensure network developments are resilient, secure and aligned with enterprise standards
  • Produce and deliver reusable connectivity patterns
  • Assist with migration approaches for major transformation activity
  • Help teams make well-founded decisions about routing, domain name services, load balancing, network traffic flow control and application deployment
  • Connect strategic architecture decisions with network and security change design, assurance, deployment and operation
  • Collaborate with architecture, delivery, engineering, cyber security, platform teams and suppliers
  • Keep risk, compliance and operational readiness front of mind
  • Help shape network architecture capability across the wider function

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of network architecture or senior network engineering experience in a regulated environment, focused on resilience and security
  • Knowledge of software-defined networking for data centre, wide area, office and branch deployments
  • Knowledge of internal and external connectivity solutions, including Cisco technology
  • 3+ years of practical experience designing or assuring network traffic flow controls
  • Experience with network segmentation, network access control, network firewalls, network intrusion, network detection and response, and control mapping
  • 3+ years of experience producing and assuring architecture artefacts, including high-level designs, options papers, architecture decision records, standards and governance submissions
  • Hybrid and public cloud connectivity experience, including integration between on-premises data centre networks and cloud-hosted services
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to bring architecture, engineering, cyber security, delivery and service teams together to make informed decisions
  • Relevant transferable experience is welcomed
