About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess, adjudicate, and update/redraft USPS policies to eliminate unnecessary policies and streamline operations.
  • Provide recommendations to update policy and process, including separating policy from process, clarifying policy language, improving USPS business, improving policy management, addressing gaps and risks, and eliminating content.
  • Develop and write policies and policy-related materials, including guidance documents and standard operating procedures.
  • Consult with policy owners, stakeholders, legal experts, and labor relations specialists to draft and edit policy language.
  • Facilitate client interactions through working group meetings and individual communication channels.
  • Support the task lead with coordination, scheduling, administrative duties, risk monitoring, document progression, data review, and meeting planning in a virtual environment.
  • Support communication and development of policy deliverables for USPS review.
  • Help achieve program milestones and assess customer feedback.
  • Build and maintain trusted partner relationships with USPS customer leadership.
  • Coordinate engagement with USPS stakeholders, steering committees, and working groups to develop roles, responsibilities, and an implementation plan.
  • Track task progress and ensure compliance with implementation plan and stakeholder expectations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in public policy, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of consulting experience supporting federal government clients, with at least 3 years in a client-facing role requiring direct interaction with senior stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting federal agency operations, including demonstrated involvement in policy analysis, program operations, or regulatory/compliance environments.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating multi-stakeholder engagements (e.g., workshops, governance boards, cross-functional working groups) with documented outcomes or decisions.
  • Proven ability to brief senior executives (SES or equivalent), including development of briefing materials and delivery of clear, concise recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience translating policy, regulatory, or legislative requirements into actionable guidance for non-policy audiences.
  • Exceptional writing skills, evidenced by authorship of formal deliverables such as policy memos, white papers, executive briefings, or operational guidance documents.
  • Strong analytical skills with direct experience synthesizing complex information into clear, structured recommendations for client decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment, including supporting concurrent deliverables with shifting deadlines.
  • Active or ability to obtain a Position of Public Trust.
