About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform project management or serve as a technical leader on environmental projects of varying complexity
  • Manage project tasks, budgets, schedules, and resources
  • Delegate work and coordinate multidisciplinary efforts
  • Review and approve project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables for quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance
  • Support upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor
  • Develop project scopes and fees
  • Assist with business development and expansion of environmental services and client relationships in the Kansas City region
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and the public
  • Conduct public involvement and stakeholder meetings
  • Oversee and prepare NEPA documents, including pre-NEPA analyses, categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements
  • Lead the NEPA process and guide design teams through alternative analysis and selection
  • Conduct resource agency coordination and consultation
  • Perform mitigation, monitoring, and permitting activities
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, policies, standards, and safety protocols
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance
  • Support team technical development, project delivery capabilities, and professional growth
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or another Natural Science field
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant experience in environmental documentation, environmental resource management, or related fields
  • Ability and willingness to secure appropriate State NEPA certification(s) when applicable
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with NEPA regulations and documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable environmental regulations
  • Proficiency with GIS and mapping systems when applicable
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities or expertise in a specific environmental discipline
  • Strong research capabilities
  • Ability and willingness to organize, lead, and perform fieldwork in various conditions, lift and carry equipment, and navigate outdoor terrain
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, and organization skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a dynamic project-based environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Valid driver's license
