About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assume technical and disciplinary leadership of an IT, IIoT, Cloud, or Platform team.
- Develop people, ways of working, and delivery capabilities.
- Help shape the technical direction, from internal IT and operations through Cloud and Platform services to collaboration with software development.
- Bridge development and administration.
- Modernize infrastructures and platforms with a focus on stability, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness—in on-premises, hybrid, or cloud-native environments.
- Establish or strengthen Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, monitoring, incident, and change management processes.
- Foster clear collaboration between development, operations, and business functions.
- Advise executive leadership, business functions, and development teams, translating technical options into clear, informed decisions.
- Establish or reorganize roles, responsibilities, delivery models, and a knowledge-sharing culture.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of experience in software development and in administration, operations, or platform engineering.
- At least 2 to 5 years of technical or disciplinary leadership experience.
- Proficiency with at least one relevant stack comprising Cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), container and platform technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and traditional system or network administration.
- Experience stabilizing operations while enabling continued development: monitoring, automation, security fundamentals, and release and incident management processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with administrators and developers at eye level, and to explain technical matters clearly to management and business functions.
- Strong German communication skills; English is an advantage in many environments but is not mandatory everywhere.
- Preferred but not required: experience with multi-cloud or hybrid setups, Microsoft 365/workplace environments, ERP or business-function-specific systems.
- Exposure to DevOps, Platform, SRE, MLOps, or AI/LLM infrastructure topics.
- Budget, vendor, or service-provider management.
- Experience building, merging, or realigning an IT or Platform organization.
