About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, implement and maintain Citrix platform solutions hosted on AWS
- Own technical activities end to end, from requirements analysis and technical design through implementation, testing, production deployment and validation
- Translate business and technical requirements into automated and maintainable platform solutions
- Engineer, optimise and maintain Citrix Cloud / DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments
- Manage persistent and non-persistent VDI environments, including Machine Creation Services (MCS)
- Build and maintain automated Gold Image lifecycle processes
- Develop PowerShell and Citrix PowerShell automation
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using HashiCorp Terraform and HCL
- Use HashiCorp Packer to automate machine image creation and maintenance
- Develop and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Apply Ansible for configuration management and operational automation
- Integrate platform services and workflows with REST APIs
- Identify dependencies, risks, prerequisites and implementation constraints
- Define and execute functional, integration, regression and post-deployment testing
- Coordinate and execute production deployments, upgrades, configuration changes and platform releases
- Automate monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance and operational health checks
- Diagnose and resolve infrastructure, connectivity, performance and application delivery issues across Citrix and AWS
- Validate service health and platform stability after implementation
- Maintain operational standards, security controls, access management and platform best practices
- Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security and application teams
- Document technical designs, automation workflows, configurations, deployment procedures, testing results and operational runbooks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 8+ years of relevant IT experience, with strong hands-on expertise in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, virtualisation or a related technical domain
- Proven experience engineering and administering Citrix platforms, preferably Citrix Cloud / DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops in AWS-hosted environments
- Strong knowledge of Citrix architecture, VDI delivery models, persistent and non-persistent desktops, and Machine Creation Services (MCS)
- Practical experience managing Citrix image lifecycles, Gold Images, image updates, publishing and deployment automation
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and Citrix PowerShell development skills
- Strong hands-on experience with HashiCorp Terraform and HCL, including Infrastructure as Code development and maintenance
- Practical experience with HashiCorp Packer for automated image creation and lifecycle management
- Experience developing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and infrastructure automation
- Experience integrating REST APIs into scripts, automation workflows and platform management processes
- Ability to independently analyse requirements, design technical solutions, identify dependencies and risks, and deliver changes end to end
- Experience with production deployments, release management, testing, rollback planning and post-deployment validation
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, virtualisation, networking, identity, connectivity and application delivery
- Ability to develop reliable, repeatable, secure and maintainable production-grade automation
- Experience with version control, code reviews, configuration management and automation best practices
- Strong documentation, communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to provide concrete examples of technical solutions personally designed, automated, deployed and supported in production environments
- AWS certifications or relevant cloud engineering qualifications (nice to have)
- Citrix certifications (nice to have)
- Experience with AWS infrastructure services, networking, security and identity management (nice to have)
- Experience with AWS-native Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation (nice to have)
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, alerting and observability solutions (nice to have)
- Experience implementing automated security controls and compliance standards (nice to have)
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments (nice to have)
- Previous experience in international consulting or complex infrastructure transformation programmes (nice to have)
