About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide routine gynecological services including reproductive health visits, annual gynecological visits, and peri-/post-menopausal care
  • Diagnose, monitor, and examine women during pregnancy
  • Develop, assess, and evaluate individual programs of care
  • Provide counseling and advice before and after screening and tests
  • Provide full antenatal care, including screening tests in the hospital, community, and home
  • Explain procedures and anticipated effects to patients, families, staff, and healthcare learners
  • Perform approved therapeutic procedures based on patients’ clinical status
  • Offer support and advice following miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality, and neonatal death when applicable
  • Supervise mothers in labor, monitor fetal condition, and handle all aspects of the birthing process
  • Formulate and implement prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, and inter-conceptional care
  • Collaborate with physicians and nursing colleagues and document in medical records and narrative summaries
  • Utilize prescriptive privileges and knowledge of drugs and pain management
  • Arrange and provide parenting and health education
  • Give support and advice on daily baby care, including breastfeeding, bathing, and preparing feeds

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2-3 years experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife preferred
  • BSN required
  • Licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife
  • Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey
