About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform high-quality vascular and general ultrasound examinations, including perinatal sonography for high-risk maternity patients
- Perform arterial and venous diagnostic procedures using high-frequency sound waves
- Recognize and accurately document pathology identified in scans
- Perform preliminary patient evaluations and obtain pertinent medical history
- Obtain previous examinations and reports; review and verify physician orders
- Respond to schedule changes, cover rotational shifts and respond to on-call requests
- Use RIS and hospital-based computer programs while maintaining electronic communications confidentiality
- Prepare rooms for biopsy examinations and assist with scanning during biopsy procedures
- Assist in inter-operative biopsy procedures and respond to the operating room promptly
- Support Virtua Health mission and vision statements, policies and procedures, and patient and employee satisfaction
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience preferred in vascular imaging, abdominal, obstetrical and small parts
- Formal education in Diagnostic Ultrasound Program
- RDMS program graduate for MFM area
- Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) through ARDMS or ARRT
- Ability to perform vascular and general ultrasound examinations according to approved techniques, protocols and radiologist/designated specialist requirements
- Thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment
- Ability to use RIS and hospital-based computer programs
- Ability to respond to rotational shifts and on-call requests
- Ability to assist with biopsy and inter-operative biopsy procedures
