About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own various club books across all general ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP
- Oversee and maintain the organization’s accounting operations
- Establish, develop, and recommend accounting objectives, policies, and procedures
- Identify risks and support audit readiness
- Complete timely month-end general ledger closing and prepare related reports and reconciliations
- Handle operational accounting, including GL, AP, fixed assets, payroll accruals, intercompany accounting, and consolidation
- Build efficiencies through automated systems processes and integrations
- Research, analyze, and interpret complex technical accounting issues and new accounting standards
- Support annual external audits
- Identify process improvements to scale and automate manual procedures
- Assist management with special projects and ad hoc analyses
- Improve best-practice processes, procedures, and internal controls
- Respond to internal and external stakeholder inquiries
- Mentor the accounting team
- Collaborate with upper management and cross-functional departments on accounting matters
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years experience in staff accounting role
- Bachelor’s in Accounting
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience with internal controls
- Experience with intercompany reconciliations
- Experience with GL account reconciliations and work papers
- Experience with best practice processes and procedures
- Ability to process and review journal entries
- Experience with ad hoc financial reporting
- Ability to balance strategy and tactical execution
- Ability to work in a busy and dynamic environment
- Ability to handle competing priorities and think on your feet
- Ability to identify when to escalate potential issues and challenges
- Excellent communication, collaboration, listening, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with FP&A, AP, Payroll, and Club Operations departments
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate with a distributed remote team
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with minimal guidance
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new systems and skills
- Preferred: inventory accounting, tax compliance, payroll accounting, and NetSuite experience
- Start-up accounting experience preferred
- Ability to operate a computer and use keyboard, mouse, and video conferencing tools
