About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct inpatient hospice care for patients with life-limiting illnesses
  • Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate each patient’s Plan of Care
  • Educate patients and families according to the Plan of Care
  • Document and communicate required information in accordance with agency policies, accreditation, regulations, and legal requirements
  • Provide nursing care to infants through geriatric patients
  • Address end-of-life issues
  • Delegate patient-care duties to Nursing Assistants
  • Directly supervise the Hospice Aide
  • Work independently while managing hospice patient care
  • Organize work efficiently and adjust schedules to support team performance
  • Maintain patient and customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrate the organization’s mission, vision, and values
  • Work two overnight shifts per week, every Wednesday and Thursday, from 7 PM to 7 AM

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing through an RN and/or BSN program
  • Current license to practice nursing in the State of North Carolina
  • Two years of experience
  • Prefer at least one year of Home Care, Hospice, or related oncology experience
  • Hand/eye coordination for injections and computer use
  • Ability to speak clearly with patients, families, physicians, and staff
  • Must communicate and be literate in English
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing at least 45 pounds
  • Ability to push, move, and lift patients
  • Ability to assess patient condition, formulate Plans of Care, and select appropriate interventions
  • Flexible schedule accommodating staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and availability for all three Care Centers
  • Ability to provide care to patients from infants through geriatric populations with life-limiting illness
