About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Take ownership of ongoing AML and KYC reviews and ensure client files remain compliant
  • Conduct detailed client-file reviews, identify gaps and inconsistencies, and recommend further investigation or action
  • Assess KYC accuracy, update client risk ratings, and undertake sanctions and watchlist screening
  • Identify clients requiring Enhanced Due Diligence and recommend appropriate monitoring
  • Review client activity and transaction patterns for unusual or suspicious indicators
  • Prepare evidenced findings and recommendations and escalate concerns where appropriate
  • Lead KYC and AML remediation projects through to resolution
  • Prioritise remediation according to risk, materiality and regulatory deadlines
  • Collaborate with client-facing teams and internal stakeholders to resolve documentation issues
  • Refresh outdated KYC information and maintain remediation records and audit trails
  • Report progress, emerging risks and outstanding issues to the Head of Risk & Compliance
  • Review onboarding questionnaires and documentation for completeness, accuracy and consistency
  • Verify client identities and assess client profiles and risk exposure
  • Evaluate business activities, source of funds and source of wealth
  • Identify and verify UBOs and PSCs
  • Conduct PEP, sanctions and adverse screening during onboarding
  • Escalate higher-risk, complex or unusual relationships to the MLRO
  • Provide first-line challenge before client relationships are approved
  • Maintain accurate, complete and auditable KYC and AML records in compliance and client management systems
  • Ensure records comply with UK AML legislation, regulatory requirements and GDPR
  • Support process improvement by identifying trends, recurring issues and opportunities to strengthen AML and KYC controls

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years' experience within KYC, AML, compliance, client due diligence or a related risk environment
  • Experience within an accountancy practice, professional services firm or similarly regulated environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK AML requirements, including POCA 2002 and the Money Laundering Regulations 2017
  • Proven experience managing KYC reviews, client due diligence, risk assessments and remediation activity
  • Strong understanding of beneficial ownership, UBO and PSC identification requirements
  • Practical experience undertaking sanctions, PEP and watchlist screening
  • Experience identifying and assessing higher-risk clients and escalating matters appropriately
  • Comfortable reviewing complex information, challenging inconsistencies and making well-reasoned recommendations
  • Confident using AML/KYC monitoring systems and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail, written and analytical skills, and ability to produce clear, well-evidenced reports
  • Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with client-facing teams, senior colleagues and key stakeholders
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities and remediation deadlines
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
