About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage construction activities across Transmission, Distribution, and Substation projects, including streetlight replacements, pole replacements, automation device installations, 38kV structure upgrades, transformer/breaker replacements, associated P&C work, and substation ground grid repairs
  • Supervise T&D, Substation, and Safety supervisors and field employees through work planning, assignments, and workforce decisions
  • Manage daily department operations, optimize workflows, align team goals, and mentor supervisors, superintendents, and general foremen
  • Evaluate quality processes and operational efficiency; implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor budgets, cost-to-complete, and financial performance; recommend adjustments based on trends and variances
  • Control operational contracts for lodging, vehicle and equipment rentals, tooling, and field support services
  • Monitor and guide compliance with utility standards, labor agreements, regulatory requirements, company policies, and applicable laws
  • Lead and validate restoration and emergency preparedness activities
  • Assume expanded duties aligned with organizational priorities and professional scope

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Material Management, Engineering or related field is required
  • Electrical or Civil Engineering preferred
  • 10 years of progressive experience in a similar functional role
  • At least 5 years in a Manager role
  • Minimum of 3 years overseeing multiple crews, contractors, or multidisciplinary teams across simultaneous projects
  • Experience and knowledge in designs, construction, and commissioning of electric utility systems, equipment and components
  • Experience managing large-scale capital projects involving high-voltage infrastructure, utility standards, and complex field execution
  • Experience leading union labor or contracted field forces in an electric utility environment
  • Experience managing day-to-day operations, teams, defining and achieving departmental objectives
  • Proven experience in construction management, particularly with large-scale projects
  • Associate's degree, technical degree or journeyman certification may substitute for education with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience and 5 years of team leadership experience
  • Construction leadership experience may be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree requirement
  • Advanced knowledge of utility safety practices, construction standards, switching procedures, grounding methods, and regulatory requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contract compliance requirements and performance standards
  • Proficiency with MS Office and project planning tools
  • Valid Puerto Rico driver's license
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • Ability to travel 60%
  • Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), OSHA-10, OSHA-30, NFPA 70E, Electrical Safety Certification, CPR/First Aid/AED Certification, and ICS 100/200/700/800 Certifications
