About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Champion GoalZERO behaviors across employees and contract personnel
- Drive continuous improvement and compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and site/company standards
- Support and lead Health & Safety programs, including Behavior Based Safety, Life Critical Procedures, contractor safety, audit programs, regulatory compliance, and Operational Excellence initiatives
- Serve as a safety resource for management, operations, maintenance, and contractors
- Serve as subject matter expert for assigned safety programs and Life Critical Procedures
- Provide dedicated safety support to assigned operating units
- Liaise with contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with Health & Safety practices and procedures
- Monitor site Health & Safety performance and track progress
- Lead or participate in formal and informal incident investigations
- Lead Health & Safety improvement initiatives
- Develop, deliver, and document safety training
- Develop knowledge of operating units and processes to apply regulations and requirements
- Conduct field observations and compliance audits
- Support, liaise, or serve as a full member of the Emergency Response Team
- Provide heavy field presence to audit practices and verify field compliance
- Implement changes and processes required for regulatory and site/company compliance
- Manage budgets in areas of responsibility using cost discipline principles
- Interface with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Site Leadership, and external Regulatory Agencies
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent, required
- Associate or Bachelor degree, preferred
- Safety related training / certifications, preferred
- Minimum 4 years of Operations, Maintenance, or similar experience in a Petrochemical environment
- Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of Occupational Safety programs and other safety policies
- English, required
- Willingness to work temporary shift-hours during turnarounds, outages, or major projects
- Willingness to participate in the rotating On-Call Duty schedule for Health & Safety
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and present safety training in group settings
- Ability to represent the site and company with regulatory agencies
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with competing priorities
- Adaptability to evolving tasks and business demands
- Strong team-player orientation
