  • Use precision measurement tools
  • Apply proper rigging techniques and signaling for heavy-load lifting
  • Troubleshoot and repair rotating and reciprocating process equipment
  • Repair and maintain stationary equipment
  • Work with pumps, gear reducers, compressors, hydraulics, and piping systems
  • Align mechanical equipment
  • Complete piping and tubing layout and fabrication
  • Repair or replace valves and fittings; disassemble and assemble equipment
  • Become qualified to safely operate rolling equipment such as cranes and forklifts
  • Lead formal or informal work groups as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong math and measurement skills
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting
  • Willingness to work under adverse conditions, including cramped conditions, extreme weather, confined spaces, elevated heights, and noisy areas
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, outages, and short-notice callouts
  • Ability to work overtime, off-hour callouts, and duty weeks
  • Ability to use computer systems to execute and report maintenance work
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools
  • Knowledge of mechanical drawings and blueprints
  • Proper rigging techniques and signaling for lifting heavy loads
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and repairing rotating and reciprocating process equipment
  • Familiarity with mechanical equipment driver alignment techniques
  • Ability to complete layout and fabrication of piping and tubing
  • NCCER millwright certification or similar knowledge and ability desired
