About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a team that delivers change across M&G’s technology estate
Ensure timely and accurate project delivery while meeting internal and external quality standards
Maintain code quality through code reviews, automated testing and coding guidelines
Monitor and optimize system performance, scalability and reliability
Create and maintain technical specifications, system configurations and user guides
Ensure implementations comply with industry standards, security protocols and regulatory requirements
Track emerging technologies and drive continuous improvement and innovation
Deliver solutions that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations
Collaborate with product owners, UX/UI designers and development team members
Diagnose and resolve technical issues and provide timely support and fixes
Integrate enterprise systems including CRMs, analytics platforms and marketing automation tools
Develop and execute unit and integration tests
Mentor junior developers through knowledge sharing and technical guidance
Manage and configure instances
Identify and implement development process improvements to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
Manage relationships with Product Owners, Head of Product Engineering, Head of Studio, Tech Leads and Delivery Leads
Collaborate closely with UK colleagues in business and Technology

Requirements

What you’ll need

Good engineering experience in relevant technologies
Experience working in teams on large projects and actively writing code through the whole stack within the last 3 years or so
Practical experience with Agile practices such as Scrum, Kanban or DevOps
Leadership experience managing teams of 10+
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
Strong focus on security, code quality and engineering best practices
Experience defining engineering standards and guidelines
Experience reviewing pull requests, discussing tools and providing feedback
Excellent communication skills
Good working knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
Working knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably Azure
Strong understanding of DevOps pipelines
Knowledge of Adobe Analytics desirable
Frontend knowledge of React.js, Angular, HTML5 and CSS3
Backend knowledge of Spring Boot, Node.js, Elasticsearch and Docker
Experience with SonarQube and Checkmarx for static code analysis and security scanning
Ability to use Teams, Jira, Confluence and similar collaboration tools
15+ years of industry experience
At least 10 years of hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot frameworks
Experience with automated CI/CD DevOps pipelines and release processes
Experience working in fast-paced Agile environments and understanding Agile/Scrum project planning, execution and risk management
Leadership experience managing teams of 10+
Ability to navigate multiple stakeholders to achieve common objectives
Knowledge of design patterns and refactoring concepts
Practical expertise in performance tuning, optimization and bottleneck analysis
Current knowledge of AEM and related technologies
Ability to develop creative solutions for ambiguous problems and learn quickly
Experience contributing to and achieving continuous improvement goals
Graduate in any discipline
