About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the day-to-day operations of the Platform squad
Set technical direction, own delivery, and grow engineers
Write and review production code
Design systems and solve complex technical problems
Strengthen engineering practices and quality standards
Grow into formal people management, including career development and performance management
Ship scheduling, shift management, open shift filling, and system-wide staffing features
Evolve the backend and data model for health-system-scale scheduling and new clinical settings
Collaborate with product managers and healthcare operations experts
Translate clinical realities and customer problems into usable software and technical direction
Incorporate AI into the product and team development workflow
Report to the Head of Engineering
Deliver features and fixes early, manage delivery risks, and set technical direction for future Platform work

Requirements

What you’ll need

6+ years building and operating production software
Track record of owning systems end-to-end
Experience leading or mentoring engineers as a tech lead, team lead, or senior engineer
Full-stack proficiency
Ideally experienced with React, TypeScript, and Vite
Ideally experienced with Node.js, NestJS, and TypeORM
Experience with PostgreSQL
Experience with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure
Product intuition and ability to prioritize usability and real-world impact
Builder's mindset and ability to iterate quickly on feedback
Strong communication skills, including working with non-technical clinical operators
Ability to handle ambiguity and contribute beyond the job description
Fluency with AI coding assistants in daily workflow
Interest in building AI-assisted tooling
Alignment with M7's values
Background at a healthcare SaaS company or experience with large hospital networks is a nice-to-have
Experience modeling complex scheduling, workforce, or resource allocation domains is a nice-to-have
Experience building products with AI or ML features is a nice-to-have
Venture-backed startup experience is a nice-to-have
Must be authorized to work in the United States
