About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of assistant design engineers, design engineers and engineering technicians
- Inspire and motivate team members to achieve individual and team goals
- Provide feedback and undertake performance reviews
- Drive day-to-day team performance to meet deadlines and communicate return dates to sales teams
- Prepare temporary works designs for medium to high complexity groundworks (cofferdams), formwork and falsework, and/or propping and jacking schemes
- Check medium to high complexity temporary works designs and provide designer feedback
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations to satisfy customers in Scotland
- Attend client meetings, conduct site visits, and present CPDs to customers
- Review temporary works design briefs and assess requirements
- Identify and lead improvement projects
- Contribute to hiring and interviewing team members
- Lead training and mentoring
- Act as a delegated engineer for colleagues undertaking Initial Professional Development through the company-approved ICE Training Agreement, when required
Requirements
What you’ll need- HND or degree in civil/structural engineering
- At least 5 years’ experience designing temporary works
- Experience designing and checking temporary works designs in Groundworks (cofferdams), Formwork & Falsework or Temporary Propping
- Appetite for leading change and finding better ways of working
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Experience managing or mentoring small teams (desirable)
- Experience working for a supplier or in a commercial environment (desirable)
- Some experience working on site (desirable)
- Professional qualification with the Institution of Civil Engineers (desirable)
