About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide MFLC consultation and counseling services to military commands, service members, and their families
- Deliver non-medical, short-term, walk-around, solution-focused counseling
- Conduct assessments, brief counseling, consultation, action planning, referrals, and follow-up
- Deliver training and health and wellness presentations
- Participate in health fairs and other base or installation activities
- Enter counselor activity data daily while maintaining confidentiality
- Maintain visibility within assigned brigades or regiments
- Establish relationships with community resources and provide service linkages
- Partner with installation Points of Contact to address installation needs
- Respond to critical incidents, surge and on-demand events, and special requests
- Flex schedule for urgent requests
- Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to DoD protocol
- Communicate with Regional Supervisors and participate in individual and group supervision
- Participate in in-services, training, Quality Improvement committees, initiatives, studies, and pilot programs
- Complete documentation, certification and training processes, and required technology-based activities
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Candidates must be local to installation
- Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in a relevant field, including social work, psychology, marriage/family therapy, or counseling
- Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a State, District of Columbia, US Territory or Commonwealth
- Less than 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience
- Intermediate-level competencies in Microsoft Suite, Internet navigation, Smartphone/Tablet and application navigation, and video-conferencing platforms
- Ability to engage and communicate with military members or children and respond quickly to emergent situations in varied military installation or school environments
- Ability to traverse short and long distances, including rugged, outdoor or uneven locations
- May require travel outside a military installation
- Ability to comply with site-specific requirements, including immunizations or vaccinations where required
- US Citizenship
- Fluency in English
- Ability to work with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds
- Pass NACI Clearance, Installation Records Check, Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprints Check
- Valid U.S. state vehicle operator’s license
- May be required to obtain a U.S. military vehicle operator’s permit for commercial sedans and similar vehicles
