About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide comprehensive Child and Youth Behavioral counseling services to children of military service members and their families
  • Deliver non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling, assessment, brief counseling, consultation, action planning, referrals, and follow-up
  • Support staff and personnel at child development centers, youth programs, and summer camps
  • Provide parent support, training, and guidance
  • Deliver training and health and wellness presentations and participate in health fairs and installation activities
  • Enter counselor activity data daily using a smartphone or web application while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity
  • Establish relationships with community resources and provide appropriate linkages
  • Maintain visibility and accessibility at assigned locations while following line-of-sight protocols
  • Partner with installation Points of Contact to address facility needs and maintain professional working relationships
  • Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations according to DoD protocol
  • Participate in individual and group supervision and communicate installation trends and issues to Regional Supervisors
  • Respond to critical incidents and special requests, including flexing the schedule as needed
  • Participate in training, Quality Improvement committees, initiatives, studies, pilot programs, certification processes, and other contract activities
  • Complete documentation and use applicable technology for required activities
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited Graduate Program in a Mental Health related field
  • Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a State, District of Columbia, US Territory or Commonwealth
  • Less than 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience
  • Intermediate-level competency in Microsoft Suite, Internet navigation, Smartphone/Tablet and application navigation, and video-conferencing platforms
  • Ability to engage and communicate with military members or children and respond quickly to emergent situations in varied military installation and school settings
  • Ability to traverse indoor and outdoor locations, including rugged or uneven terrain
  • May need current immunizations or vaccinations for site-specific assignments
  • Ability to prove US Citizenship and fluency in English
  • Ability to work with children, service members, and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Pass CNACI Clearance, Installation Records Check, Criminal History Background Check, and FBI Fingerprints Check
  • Valid U.S. state vehicle operator’s license, unless waived by the FEDSIM COR
  • May be required to obtain a U.S. military vehicle operator’s permit for TDY locations
  • Meet Magellan MFLC CYB criteria for experience with children and youth and specialization in child and adolescent development/psychology
  • School-assigned counselors must have prior work experience in a school setting
  • Current licensure meeting State, Commonwealth, or customer-specific requirements
  • Must be an independently licensed behavioral health clinician
