About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide coverage in short-term, surge and on-demand situations arising from military needs
- Provide personal financial counseling and management services to military service members and their families at military installations
- Conduct one-on-one counseling, consultations, briefings, presentations and referrals
- Work with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure the program meets installation needs and remains within scope
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials
- Coordinate, publicize and deliver Personal Financial Management classes and workshops across the military lifecycle
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
- Use virtual counseling and electronic communication methods when authorized
- Manage duty-to-warn situations according to Department of Defense protocol
- Communicate with leadership and participate in individual and group supervision
- Share trends and issues from assigned installations
- Participate in in-services, training, quality improvement committees and other contract activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required
- Associate degree plus 4 years' experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree
- High school diploma plus 6 years' experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Fluent English required
- Bilingual English and Spanish if required by the contract
- Able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
- Able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest process
- Must have one of: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
- Valid in-state driver's license required
