About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process and applicable standards of practice
- Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on patient assessment
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition
- Triage and prioritize patient care based on acuity and available resources
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs
- Evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education
- Delegate patient care to ancillary personnel
- Precept student nurses and new hires as needed
- Work at both the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville and the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta
- Cross-train and work in both Emergency Departments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active Maine RN licensure or the ability to obtain Maine licensure promptly
- At least 2 years of RN experience, preferred
- Prior/recent RN experience working in an ER environment, strongly preferred
- Preferred certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, MOAB, and TNCC
- Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and prioritization skills
- Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and patient-focused in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work 36 hours per week
- Weekend and holiday rotation
