About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide medical services to patients in an occupational medicine clinic
- Practice evidence-based occupational medicine
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, health coaches, dietitians, and administrative staff
- Provide direct patient care two days per week
- Perform administrative and leadership duties three days per week
- Develop staff, provide consultations, and oversee state and federal contracts
- Lead, inspire, and train clinical and administrative staff
- Participate in and present educational programs, including CAOHC and NIOSH respirator training
- Deliver presentations to internal and external audiences
- Support program growth and strategic direction
- Provide occupational health consultation and health surveillance for state employees
- Work across multiple industry site clinics and varied workplace environments
- Opportunity to serve as Medical Director
Requirements
What you’ll need- Board certified or board eligible in Occupational Medicine preferred; Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine considered
- Minimum three years of occupational medicine experience; urgent care, family medicine, or emergency medicine experience acceptable
- Ability and willingness to practice evidence-based occupational medicine in compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Current or future certification as a FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners physician
- Current or future certification as a Medical Review Officer (MRO)
- Strong working knowledge of workers’ compensation, transportation regulations, and occupational safety requirements
- Demonstrated leadership experience with ability to lead, inspire, and train clinical and administrative staff
- Ability to balance two days of direct patient care with three days of administrative and leadership duties
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and alignment with MaineGeneral Health’s values and standards
- Willingness to participate in and present at educational programs, including CAOHC and NIOSH respirator training
- Skilled in delivering presentations for internal and external audiences
- Ability to make strategic, informed decisions supporting program growth and direction
- MD or DO certification listed
- Maine Adult Protective Services Background Check
- Maine Background Criminal Check (MBCC), annual
- Scheduled availability of 40 hours per week
