About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage a remote team of 3–6 engineers across several projects
  • Initially manage the patient programs projects team and eventually start a new team for new projects

  • Grow and mentor engineers and support their career interests
  • Provide feedback for performance management and coaching

  • Translate ambiguous stakeholder desires into concrete requirements and action plans
  • Work across teams and internal and external stakeholders to execute projects
  • Understand customers and users and provide product direction
  • Report to the Chief Technology Officer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineers
  • Experience providing technical leadership in architecture and design, code reviews, and incident management
  • Ability to independently contribute technically to projects approximately 20% of the time
  • Preferred prior experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Preferred DevOps experience with AWS infrastructure
  • Experience working at startups and mature tech organizations is a plus
  • Experience in both B2B and B2C environments is a plus
  • Prior experience in healthcare and/or Africa is a plus
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, and Android Kotlin
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to translate ambiguous needs into concrete requirements and action plans
  • Ability to understand customers and users and provide product direction
