About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Act as the day-to-day steward of the DEV developer community
Be active on DEV daily by reading, commenting, reacting, posting, and learning its culture and engaged members
Own DEV moderation, establish platform standards, make final decisions on difficult cases, and work with volunteer moderators
Monitor and manage community support channels and inboxes
Identify influential contributors, recurring concerns, and emerging community issues
Route feedback, bug reports, feature requests, and escalations to appropriate internal teams
Recruit technical writers and contributors from the developer ecosystem to the DEV platform
Oversee or support MLH's presence on Reddit and other relevant community platforms
Curate community content through editorial roundups, newsletters, and email marketing
Recognize valuable contributions, elevate content quality, and maintain a consistent brand voice
Use AI tools to accelerate community and content work while applying judgment and quality control
Build connections between the MLH and DEV communities and represent community needs inside MLH

Requirements

What you’ll need

Active, established member of the DEV community with a history of contributing to and engaging on the platform
A DEV profile with established history is required
Experience moderating, setting up bots, building automations, or helping run a Discord server
Familiarity with Reddit and other online communities
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong instincts for curating content
Understanding of the lifecycle of a community-reported GitHub issue, from report to fix
Ability to make good decisions in ambiguous situations, including moderation decisions, content concerns, and support escalations
Experience using AI tools as a starting point, then improving, curating, and adapting their output
At least four hours of overlap with US Eastern Time each workday
