About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide non-clinical prenatal, labor/birth, and postpartum doula support
  • Provide culturally responsive emotional, informational, and physical support aligned with each member’s preferences and needs
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of services
  • Follow applicable privacy, documentation, quality, and payer requirements
  • Coordinate with Malama’s care team when a member needs support outside the doula scope of practice
  • Remain an independent practitioner while Malama supports health-insurance administration, including provider enrollment, credentialing, billing, and payment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experienced birth doula practicing in Minnesota
  • Approved for the Minnesota Doula Registry, or eligible and willing to complete the registration process
  • Willing to complete applicable Minnesota Medicaid and health-plan enrollment and credentialing requirements
  • Experience providing prenatal, labor/birth, and postpartum support
  • Positive, empathetic people person and team player
  • Open and honest when providing feedback
  • Passionate about maternal health and Malama’s mission to improve outcomes and close equity gaps
  • Deep ties to and/or lived experience in the communities served
  • Passion, community roots, and commitment to birth equity valued; years of experience are not required
